You can now play Android games on a PS5
I think I speak for everyone when I say WE needed this
Recently PS5 emulation on mobile started happening, so I suppose it's only natural that the inverse of that would come eventually. Thanks to a new project called Hydroid, you can now finally experience the joys of playing Subway Surfers and a small selection of other games on PlayStation 5. Check out this video posted by Samir on X to see how everything looks like - it's pretty seamless:

Here are more details about the project:
- Hydroid loads a game's own arm64 libraries, translates its ARM code to x86-64 as it runs, and answers every call the game makes to Android itself: the C library, the Linux kernel, the graphics drivers, sound, input and the Java framework. There is no Android image underneath. Each piece is written one function at a time, as games ask for it.
- The source and The engine, its build and the tools to turn almost any Android game into its own PS5 app.
- Made for the PS5. The same code can also run on Linux or Windows.
- Only 64-bit games. Hydroid runs 64-bit (arm64) Android games only: the game's APK must have
lib/arm64-v8a. - More engines can be added. Unity, Cocos2d-x, Godot, Unreal, Halfbrick's Mortar and native games work today. Each engine is a small host in
src/, so developers can add new ones. - Every game plays with the DualSense: its own controller support where it has one, otherwise the buttons are set up for its touch controls.
- Portrait games stay portrait. Games made for a phone held upright (Sonic Dash, Sonic Boom, Temple Run 2) play in a phone-shaped screen in the middle of the TV. They can't be made widescreen: the game itself doesn't support it, and forcing it stretches or cuts its menus and buttons.

Because of the 64-bit requirement, most Angry Birds games will unfortunately not be supported - sorry to all five people that wanted to play them this way.
Not gonna lie though, I don't entirely agree with what the project's developer (AZiZ) states in the last point. I've already played a lot of portrait-only games in landscape via the Force Rotation app, like Temple Run and Subway Surfers, so maybe there is a way to force landscape here as well?
As of writing, eleven games are supported:
- Subway Surfers
- Geometry Dash Lite
- Crossy Road
- Sonic Dash
- Sonic Boom
- Shadow Fight 2
- Jetpack Joyride
- Temple Run 2
- Fruit Ninja
- Cut the Rope
- Infinity Blade
